BIGARD MEMORIAL SEMINARY ENUGU CELEBRATES HOLY MASS FOR LATE MRS. ELIZABETH OKAFOR.

On Tuesday, 11th June, 2024, the entire Bigard Memorial Seminary family gathered to celebrate Mass for the happy repose of Mrs. Elizabeth Okafor who until her death served tirelessly and selflessly as a chef in the Father’s kitchen. The Holy Mass was presided over by the Rector, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Albert Okechukwu Ikpenwa. During the Mass the homily was delivered by Rev. Fr. Dr. John Bosco Okoye. In his homily, Fr. Okoye emphasized the importance of legacy in life, noting that it can be positive or negative, and we have the choice to determine which we want to leave behind. He highlighted the exemplary life and legacy of St. Barnabas, the saint of the day, who sold everything he had and donated the proceeds to advance the proclamation of the gospel. Similarly, he praised late Mrs. Elizabeth Okafor, who served selflessly and diligently as a chef in the Father’s kitchen since 1995, spanning 29 years. Fr. Okoye enjoined all to make the right decision to leave a good legacy behind and asked the congregation to pray for the happy repose of Mrs. Elizabeth Okafor.After the homily, the Mass continued as usual. Towards the end of the Mass, the Vice Rector, Rev. Fr. Dr. Kevin Udenwagu, delivered a vote of thanks. He consoled all present, especially the Rector and Mrs. Elizabeth Okafor’s immediate family. He then called on a family member to address the congregation. On behalf of her husband, Mr. Fredrick Sunday Okafor, the family member thanked everyone present and appreciated the seminary for their support. He invited all to join the family for the burial proper the following week at Ituku. Afterwards, the Mass then ended.
